Welcome!

Hello and welcome to the 2013-2014 school year! I'm excited to work with you this year! Please take some time to look over this site. I've left all of the posts from last school year up for you to have available during this school year. Maybe I taught a lesson better last year, so why get rid of it now!? :) If you have questions, please email me at kenneth.mach@k12northstar.org.

Thanks!

More Scale!

Hello everyone!

We are working more with scale this week. So today, we investigated scale given the floor plan of a house. The objective was to use the floor plan and scale to get the actual dimensions of the home. The video below explains the process used. The final piece of this assignment is to find the area of the family room. That will be due Friday. The video should help.

The French Fry Problem!

Hello everyone! Well, I really gave a tough one today in class. It combined unit conversions with a percent mark-up. And to top it off, our favorite chef was back! I think the students were a little tired from a long week, so there was not a lot of progress in class today. That means this problem is due on Monday.. yuck!

That said, I've made another video to help guide you through it.. you're welcome :)

Unit Rates : A Cheetos Lesson!

Hey everyone! Here is the problem/lesson from today! I hope it helps prepare for Friday's Quiz!

Rates!! And in One Direction! :)

Hello everyone!! We've started the new quarter out with a bang! The videos below should help highlight the new content, and demonstrate the best way to finish the problem for those of you that didn't finish in class.

The main concept is Rates are ratios comparing numbers having different units of measure. The best example is speed limit. 60 miles to 1 hour. Miles and hours are very different things... right? :)

Ok. Watch the videos below. The first one is a group of students that worked out the problem in class, and the second one is from me.

Good luck!
